What is Maine's Renewable Resource Fund?

The Maine Renewable Resource Fund permits our customers the opportunity to help support the development of new and innovative ways to produce electricity from renewable resources (wind, water, sun, wood, trash-to-energy, tides, fuel cells, and geothermal energy).
This voluntary contribution can help create jobs, provide power, and protect Maine's environment.
The State Planning office will administer this Fund as a grant program to support research and development of renewable resource projects through Maine's public higher education institutions (the University of Maine, The Technical College System, and the Maine Maritime Academy).
Community groups are also able to apply for funding for demonstration projects outside the educational system.

How does the Fund work?

New Participants, To voluntarily contribute, please complete the Maine's Renewable Resource Research and Development Fund Form and click "submit".
Your voluntary contribution will be added each month to your power bill.
The State Planning Office will administer the funds you contribute.
Current Participants, please visit klpd.org and complete the Contribution Change Form to make any changes to your contribution.
To make a one-time contribution by mail, please complete the Renewable Resource Contribution Form and forward it, along with your contribution, made payable to:
