A Maine Electric Utility with a Long History
Originally founded as the Kennebunk Electric Light Department in December of 1893, Kennebunk Light & Power District was established to provide electric street lighting throughout the Town of Kennebunk.
The District is one of eight consumer-owned, not-for-profit electric utilities in Maine and one of only two Light & Power Districts in the state.
In 1951, legislative action transferred authority from the Town to a locally governed public power utility.
